Malaysia Airports Pledges Commitment to a Corruption Free Workplace

SEPANG – Malaysia Airports pledges commitment to a corruption free workplace during its Connect & React Day, a Community Social Responsibility (CSR) event held at the organisation’s headquarters earlier today. The Connect & React day is aimed at fostering camaraderieship among its staff and instilling integrity at the workplace to be corruption free. Standing in unison with the staff, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, acting group chief executive officer of Malaysia Airports led the group in the pledge which was witnessed by representatives from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), and The Malaysian Institute of Integrity. The MACC also held a forum entitled ‘Infusing integrity into the work culture: Is it a catalyst or a barrier for an organization’s success?’ that got the audience sharing their thoughts and ideas.

Azmi said, “Malaysia Airports is committed in conducting our business with the highest levels of integrity, ethics and compliance to the law. Our Code of Ethics and Conduct reflects this commitment, providing each and every one of us the necessary guidelines, policies and information in ensuring that we conduct all aspects of our job with integrity and honesty. This compliance is vital to our continued success and a reflection of the values we hold strong. That said, I would like to emphasize that having integrity is not just about not being corrupt or unethical, but it is also about correcting or speaking up whenever we see or know others doing something that is questionable. We are just as guilty if we choose to turn away without any word. This is because any unethical conduct or corrupt practices by others will have an impact to us as a member of this organisation.”

For the event this year, the company also organised its very first “Bring Your Kids to Work Day: with over 80 employees’ children participating in a tour of the headquarters to see where their parents worked and see what they do daily. The children also got to know Azmi through a meet and greet session before partaking in other fun activities such as watching a movie at the auditorium-turned-cinema.

Present during the day-long event were also recipients of the ‘Joyful Home’ project that is parked under the company’s Community Enrichment CSR pillar. Through this project, we aim to elevate the lives of underprivileged families by providing aid in enhancing their livelihood. The recipients today were Zaniah Nudi, a home-based tuition teacher where support was given to expand her tuition business, Mohammad Zabri Mat Nawi, a local fisherman who needed assistance to purchase a new boat and Mohd Aizam Mohd Zain, who received funding to expand his sewing business.

More than 1,000 staff from the various subsidiaries and units of Malaysia Airports such as Sama-Sama Hotel, ERAMAN and KL International Airport operations team participated in the annual event.
